Kids are natural digital users. They are learning how to swipe before learning how to read and write. Yet, they need protection online from inappropriate content and behaviours.
To make children’s cyber-journeys safer, the European Commission has launched the Better Internet for Kids’ initiative (BIK).
The BIK aims to ensure that every young European has access to a digital environment where they feel protected, empowered and respected. The initiative makes sure children can access and enjoy what the online world has to offer, and know where to seek support if needed.
As part of that support the EU has created a helpline dedicated to the issue (111 116 ) and promoted the BIK through various campaigns. One of them was conducted with ESN in partnership with CartoonBase through videos featuring the adventures of Digital Explorers.
