Children are going online more often and at a younger age. It is fundamental that they navigate safely, by being critical of what they read and see.
The Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology assigned ESN with several projects in recent years to sharpen kids’ cyber skills.
The first instance is our cartoon series, Digital Explorers, which addresses various digital topics for a young audience. Among them is a video about Staying Safe Online, which was nominated at the MONSTRA festival in 2022. Another video, on quantum technology, from the same series was also selected for the ANMTN festival.
Another cyber awareness-related project that we delivered recently was the adaptation of A Smart Kid’s Guide to the Online World of Wonders into 23 languages of the European Union. This one-of-a-kind guide was first produced in Polish by Kosmos dla Dziewczynek / Cosmos for Girls Foundation. Want to know more about this challenging translation project? Check it out here!
Last but not least, the quirky and informative tone of the guide inspired a series of animated clips, produced by ESN for the Commission. An engaging media campaign promoted the guide and the videos in order to raise internet awareness for children across Europe. Eager to find out more about the guide’s magical tips?
